A Night of Purple Magic: Marshall Charloff & The Purple XPeRIeNCE!
Jim Merritt – October 27, 2026
On October 16, 2026, my wife Denise and I had the privilege of attending a performance by Marshall Charloff & The Purple XPeRIeNCE, an incredible tribute to the legendary musician Prince.
What a fantastic show!
I've always appreciated Prince's extraordinary musical talent, but watching Marshall Charloff perform his music live was something special. If you're a Prince fan and haven't seen this show, you're missing out on an amazing musical experience.
The Resemblance Is Remarkable!
One of the first things that struck me was just how much Marshall Charloff looks like Prince. From his appearance and stage presence to his movements and mannerisms, the resemblance is remarkable.
But looking like Prince is only part of the story.
Marshall actually sounds like Prince!
His vocals capture that distinctive Prince sound so well that there are moments when you could almost forget you're watching a tribute performance.
And then there's his guitar playing.
Prince wasn't just an incredible singer and entertainer. He was an exceptionally gifted guitarist, and Marshall does an outstanding job of recreating that side of his musical legacy.
Watching Marshall play guitar was one of the highlights of the evening for me. His talent goes far beyond simply imitating Prince. He's an accomplished musician in his own right.
More Than Just a Tribute Band
What makes The Purple XPeRIeNCE special is the musicianship behind the performance.
The group was co-founded in Minneapolis in 2011 by Marshall Charloff and Matt "Doctor" Fink, who played keyboards with Prince & The Revolution.
Their goal was to honor Prince's music through outstanding live performances rather than relying on prerecorded backing tracks.
That commitment to authentic musicianship is a big part of what makes this show so impressive.
The entire band deserves recognition. Recreating Prince's music is no small undertaking, and these musicians do an exceptional job of capturing the sound and energy that made his performances legendary.
Keeping Prince's Musical Legacy Alive
Prince was truly one of a kind. His combination of songwriting, singing, guitar playing, and showmanship made him one of the most talented entertainers of his generation.
Although we lost Prince in 2016, his music continues to entertain and inspire audiences around the world.
Marshall Charloff & The Purple XPeRIeNCE help keep that legacy alive in a way that feels both authentic and respectful.
And while nobody can ever replace Prince, Marshall comes remarkably close to recreating the experience of watching him perform.
Would We Go Again? Absolutely!
Denise and I thoroughly enjoyed the evening.
It's not often that you attend a tribute performance where the lead entertainer looks so much like the original artist, sings so convincingly, and plays the guitar with such remarkable skill.
Marshall Charloff checks all three boxes!
If you enjoy Prince's music, I strongly encourage you to see Marshall Charloff & The Purple XPeRIeNCE when they come to a city near you.
