One-on-One Training for QuickBooks® Users

Whether you're brand new to QuickBooks® software or have been using it for years, QuickTrainer provides personalized, one-on-one training designed around your business, your experience level, and the areas where you need the most help.

Instead of following a generic classroom curriculum, we focus on the tasks and workflows you actually use in your business. Training is live, practical, and tailored to you.

QuickTrainer is based in Wilmington, NC and provides remote training to businesses throughout the United States. In-person training may also be available in the Wilmington area.

Training Built Around Your Business

Every business uses accounting software differently. That's why QuickTrainer's training is not a one-size-fits-all class.

We begin by learning about your business, your responsibilities, and what you want to accomplish. From there, we focus your training on the areas that are most relevant to you.

You can ask questions as we go, work through real situations from your business, and spend more time on the topics where you need additional help.

Our goal is simple: help you understand what you're doing, why you're doing it, and how to work more accurately and efficiently.

Five Hours of Personalized One-on-One Training

QuickTrainer's standard one-on-one class includes five hours of personalized instruction.

Rather than requiring you to complete all five hours at once, training is typically divided into 1- to 2-hour sessions and scheduled around your availability.

This gives you time between sessions to practice what you've learned, develop additional questions, and apply the training to your day-to-day work.

Training is live and one-on-one. It is not a prerecorded or self-paced course.

What Can We Cover During Training?

Your training can be customized around the areas where you need the most help.

Topics may include:

  • Navigating QuickBooks® Online

  • Setting up and organizing your Chart of Accounts

  • Bank Transactions and connected bank feeds

  • Creating and managing Bank Rules

  • Matching and categorizing downloaded transactions

  • Bank and credit card reconciliations

  • Creating invoices

  • Receiving customer payments

  • Using Undeposited Funds

  • Recording deposits

  • Entering and paying bills

  • Accounts Receivable

  • Accounts Payable

  • Tracking income and expenses

  • Working with customers and vendors

  • Products and services

  • Sales tax features

  • Payroll-related accounting workflows

  • Profit and Loss reports

  • Balance Sheet reports

  • Customizing reports

  • Correcting common data-entry mistakes

  • Understanding basic accounting concepts

  • Improving your day-to-day workflow

Because the training is customized, we do not have to cover topics that are not relevant to your business.

Training for Beginners

You do not need prior accounting experience or extensive knowledge of QuickBooks® software to work with QuickTrainer.

If you're a beginner, we'll start with the fundamentals and explain things in practical terms without overwhelming you with accounting jargon.

We'll meet you where you are and move at a pace that makes sense for you.

The goal is not simply to show you where to click. We want you to understand how your transactions affect your accounting records and financial reports so you can work with greater confidence.

Training for Experienced Users

Already comfortable using QuickBooks® software?

Your training can focus on more advanced workflows, troubleshooting problems, improving efficiency, reviewing existing procedures, and learning features you may not be using effectively.

Many experienced users know how to perform everyday tasks but want help understanding why something isn't working correctly or whether there is a better way to accomplish it.

That's where personalized training can be especially valuable.

Use Your Own QuickBooks® File

When appropriate, training can be performed using your actual QuickBooks® file.

This allows us to work with your real customers, vendors, accounts, transactions, reports, and workflows rather than generic examples.

Using your own file can make the training easier to understand and immediately applicable to your business.

If we notice accounting issues during the training that require more extensive review or cleanup, we'll explain what we see and discuss the appropriate next steps with you.

Training for Your Employees

QuickTrainer can also provide personalized training for employees who use QuickBooks® software as part of their day-to-day responsibilities.

Training can be tailored to the employee's role, including areas such as:

  • Invoicing

  • Receiving payments

  • Bank Transactions

  • Accounts Payable

  • Reconciliations

  • Expense entry

  • Reporting

  • Other accounting workflows

Employee training can also help establish more consistent procedures and reduce errors caused by different users handling transactions in different ways.

Remote Training Available Nationwide

You do not need to be located in Wilmington, NC to work with QuickTrainer.

Most training is provided remotely, allowing us to work directly with businesses throughout the United States.

Remote sessions provide the same personalized, one-on-one experience while allowing you to participate from your own office and work with the accounting information you use every day.

For businesses in the Wilmington area, in-person training may also be available when appropriate.

Why Choose QuickTrainer?

QuickTrainer believes good training should be practical, understandable, and relevant to your business.

We don't rush through a generic lesson plan or assume everyone learns the same way.

Instead, we take the time to understand what you need and explain the software and accounting process in a way that makes sense to you.

Jim Merritt has been helping businesses with QuickBooks® software since 2001, and QuickTrainer, Inc. opened its doors in September 2006.

Our goal is to help you work more confidently, make fewer mistakes, and spend less time struggling with your accounting software.
